Dr Mykola Kutia

Name: Dr Mykola Kutia

Qualifications: Ph.D, FHEA

Position: Lecturer in Forestry

Email address: m.kutia@bangor.ac.uk

OVERVIEW

Mykola Kutia received his M.Sc. in Forestry with honours (2009) and PhD in Forestry (2014) at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES of Ukraine), Kyiv.

His PhD thesis “Peculiarities of forest resources inventory and usage in Kyiv recreational forests” was devoted to the methodological aspects of remote sensing and GIS applications for the improvement of sampling forest inventory and management of urban and suburban forests. Recently, the research interests of Dr. Kutia are focused on the development of a system approach to the evaluation of the whole spectrum of suburban forest ecosystem services using sampling inventory data, GIS technologies, and remote sensing.

Dr. Kutia has published co-authored papers in professional peer-reviewed journals and presented his researches at the various international conferences and symposiums which were held in Ukraine, USA, Canada and China. Dr. Kutia, had improved his research and teaching skills during the WIRA Scholar Program at the Pennsylvania State University, USA (2015).

Dr Kutia started his teaching career at NULES of Ukraine in 2011. He was awarded by Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding performance and significant contribution to the training of forestry professionals (2015, Issued by State Forest Agency of Ukraine).

Since the start of his teaching at Bangor College China (2016), he constantly consolidates personal development and evidence of professional practice in his education career. In 2020 he successfully passed the Higher Education Academy Fellowship program and was awarded by FHEA Certificate.
