  Currentlystudying for a PhD in Accounting & Finance, under the supervision of DrDoris Merkl-Davies & Prof Lynn Hodgkinson (topic: the role of pre-issuecorporate disclosure in the overpricing of Seasoned Equity Offerings) 

  Danial Hemmingsjoined the staff of Bangor Business School in January 2015 as Lecturer inFinance. Prior to this, Danial completed a Bachelor’s Degree as well as aMaster’s Degree at the school, and has more recently been studying towards aPhD at Bangor. 

  Danial’s areasof teaching focus on both the traditional view of finance (in ASB 2202 –Finance) as well as the critique offered by behavioural finance (ASB 3309 –Behavioural Finance). While the traditional approach considers the actions ofidealised rational beings, the behavioural approach considers the impact ofirrationality, driven by psychological or cognitive biases, on investment andfinancing decisions. 

  Danial’steaching is informed by his research interests in examining the nature and roleof information in financial markets and investment decisions, as well as theimpact that biased interpretations of corporate documents can have on marketefficiency. Danial is currently exploring the potential of textual analysis inthis area.
