Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Michellene graduated with a Masters in Sociology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2006 and has since embarked on research collaboration with a number of African and French researchers from 2007-2010. Her teaching experience has had her teaching English, sociolinguistic communication and applied academic subjects within various medical and educational institutions. She has also taught in the Middle East, more specifically at the University of Kurdistan-Hewler in Erbil, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. She is currently a Ph.D candidate at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa and lecturer at Bangor College in Changsha, Hunan Province in China.
